First of all, I’d like to say this list might get longer in the hours between me writing and posting this with the way Tory Lanez has been tweeting. Buuut we do have some guranteed releases so let’s get into those first.
Middle Child – J. Cole
Yes, this came out Wednesday but I feel like it being here is just fine because I bet you’re still talking about it. Dreamville appears to be ready to take over 2019 with the compilation album Revenge of the Dreamers 3 and it’s creative promo run and now a single from Cole. In this track Cole talks about how he’s stuck between two generations and he uses not only lyrics but creative production and vocal effects to showcase this as well. There’s also some lines that some have interpreted at as shots at both Kanye AND Pusha T. As with any Cole release it’s a must listen and the conversations that can be had about it will be abundant for sure.
Everything’s For Sale – Boogie
I’m listening to Boogie’s first album as I type this and I have to say I’m mad I slept for so long. This new album however appears to be for people just like me who needed waking up. On it there are features from J.I.D, Eminem and 6LACK which are sure to bring in new listeners. There’s also an emotionally and visually amazing short film that accompanies this album which can be watched here. This album is sure to be packed with emotion, rawness, bars and trademark west coast flavor like his previous work and definitely is not one to miss.
Clear EP – Summer Walker
Summer Walker is one of those R&B artists who’s music is strictly for after 11pm listening. She tweeted a picture of the essentials for her new EP tonight which included wine, incense and candles. She told her fans to reply with their own “Listening Packs” in which similar items were included in addition to plants. weed and Backwoods respectively. Summer said this EP would be of live recordings so while the trademark atmospheric and layered production will be absent, the vocal excellence and relatability will be showcased in full force.
Deebo – The Underachievers
After all these somber projects we’ve also got a BANGER from The Underachievers. This is the second single for their upcoming project The Lords of Flatbush 3. AK and Issa Gold reference the iconic character from Friday on the hook while delivering energetic and aggressive verses as expected. Start your day with this one and you’ll be in the get up and go mood in no time.
All these projects are available on streaming services now.
